Details
Dive into the world of King Kamehameha and his history at Kamakahonu — the grounds where he resided — in a unique historical tour. Your guide begins in the Monarchy Room where portraits of Hawaiian royals, from King Kamehameha the Great to the last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Queen Lili’uokalani are displayed. Walk out towards Kamakahonu Bay and visualize where he launched his canoes to go fishing or where he viewed his kuahewa on the slopes of Hualalai or where he trained his young son, Liholioh to be king after him. Even see the exact location where King Kamehameha took his last breath at Ka Hale Pua ‘Ilima. Your tour ends in the main lobby of the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort in front of a larger-than-life portrait capturing one day in the life of the king at Kamakahonu, which can only be described as, “The Last Portrait of the Kamehameha Family.”
